Privacy Policy

WhyMyPlant is a plant problem-solving reference. You can read every diagnosis and care page without an account, without signing in, and without giving us anything. This page sets out the few cases where data is involved, who processes it, and what you can do about it.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data. There are no user accounts, no comments, and no user-submitted content, so there is no profile to build. We do not run behavioural profiling of our own, and nothing you read here is logged against your name.

Analytics

Two analytics systems run on this site, and they behave differently.

Vercel Web Analytics is cookieless and collects aggregate page-view counts with no persistent identifier. It runs on every visit.

Google Analytics 4 sets cookies, so it is consent-gated: it does not load at all unless you accept via the banner. Decline, and it never runs — Vercel Analytics remains the only measurement. Your choice is stored locally in your own browser.

Advertising — Google AdSense

This site carries ordinary display advertising through Google AdSense, which is what pays for the hosting and keeps every plant page free to read. Google and its partners use cookies to serve those ads, and depending on your settings they may be personalised based on your prior visits to this and other sites.

Advertising never influences what a page says. No diagnosis or care guide is sponsored, no advertiser sees a page before it is published, and no affiliate link is planted inside a reference page.

You can control or opt out of personalised advertising at Google My Ad Center (myadcenter.google.com) and aboutads.info/choices. Google's use of advertising cookies is described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Newsletter and contact form

If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address is stored by Brevo, our email provider, and used only to send the newsletter. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.

If you use the contact form, the message and your email address are delivered through Brevo so we can reply. They are used for that reply and nothing else — not added to the newsletter, and never passed to anyone.

Payments

Purchases and donations are processed entirely by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen, handled or stored by this site. We receive only the confirmation needed to fulfil the order and the email address to send it to.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EEA you can ask what data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and withdraw consent at any time. In practice the only data tied to you is a newsletter subscription or a past order. Email contact@whymyplant.com and we will act on a legitimate request within a reasonable time.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. Declining analytics or advertising cookies does not break anything here — every page works identically.

Changes to this policy
